PROBATION junior TEAM
Abstract: PROBATION junior is pleased to announce the release of its 4th volume and welcome its new referent into the Scientific Board. As before, we promote and bring forward subjects for discussion researched by young professionals preoccupied with the field of criminal justice. This edition focuses on subjects such as: the family as the tool for a successful social reintegration and death penalty, a punishment which dates back centuries and always under the magnifying glass of suspicion. All two articles are written in Romanian however, the third article has been translated into English.

The relation of inmates with their families – fundamental element in their reintegration process

Abstract: In the article presented the role of families in an inmate’s who are confined to maximum security prison in Romania is analyzed. In the present research, I have tried to identify the way in which the detention changed the family relationships of inmates and how these relationships are a resource for them when they are released.

Book review: Reflections on the death penalty by Arthur Koestler and Albert Camus

Abstract: Original article in Romanian: The death penalty has been an ample debated subject over the years, and, unfortunately, the present fails to conclude its existence. We kill in the name of law and we shrug shoulders when we are wrong, convicting innocent people. The reflections on the death penalty written by Arthur Koestler and Albert Camus, with a strict reference to their countries, England and France, are meant to justify the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. But because we still have the capital punishment in the 21st century, it is extremely important to understand what these great moralists have said and ask ourselves how truly necessary is the death penalty.
